What is a book of delight?
A place to document those things that make you happy, to be alive, to be present.
About this project:
While listening to This American Life Episode: The Show of Delights. (https://www.thisamericanlife.org/692/the-show-of-delights ) Ross Gay chronicles his moment of delight in his book of the same name. According to Gay, delight is little butterflies that surround Joy. Isn’t that the perfect description? More so, Gay found that delight is meant to be shared. After a year of feeling constrained to buildings and our small circles, its felt a bit like that delight has been drained from our lives. But it’s there, we just need to look for it. So in that spirit, I would like to take 2 weeks and document those things that bring me delight, and then I want to spend 2 weeks creating a vessel to share my delight. As artists, those delights are so often our motivators in our work. Wouldn’t it be fun to find some than share it with a fellow artist? I am excited to be able to find delight and share it and I hope you join me on this!

Dates: April 5th- 30th
What:
April 5th -16 We will be documenting moments, things, people, ect. that bring you delight. This can be in a journal, list, strips of random paper. However you want, try to create a little library of things that you delight in.
April 19-30 Create a mailable ( preferably just in a regular envelope) little books of visual delight. Share with someone what brings butterflies to your life. Media can be what ever you choose, whatever best conveys your collection. You will be sent an address of fellow artist to mail your project to and receive one in return. Please be sure that you mean to finish this project as it would be very disappointing to not be a receiver after you have put so much work into your own
BONUS: Create a digital issue. Via a video, printable, or whatever media you can share easily! I would love to share these so please tag or email me with your final project.
